Who's Ready for a Little Backpacking?

  • Plan your Trip!
There is nothing worse then not planning for a hike or camping trip and end up forgetting something thats vital. As a safety precaution, part of your planning should be to inform someone at home where you plan on going for your trip. This is especially true if you plan on going backpacking far from civilization.
  • Try out you gear before you head out
It is always important to make sure all your gear is functioning before you head out. There is nothing worse then finding out you have a broken backback strap or a large hole in your tent halfway through your hike.
  • Only bring what is completely neccessary
Don't let yourself bring objects just because you "may" use them. When it comes to backpacking, lighter is better. Bring light compact foods and forget canned foods. Electronics are fun but they are heavy and may require an extra set of batteries. Lesson is, save your back and legs and pack light.
  • Stay within you limit
Know you own and your fellow campers physical limitations. Don't plan on hiking miles over rough wooded terrain if your used to living on the couch. It is always a good idea to push yourself a little to see what your made of but don't push yourself or your friends too hard.
