Cabelas Boundary Waters™ II Roll-Top Dry Bag
Rating: 4.5/5

Handy Features:

  1. One of the most heavy-duty bags of its kind
  2. This bag is actually waterproof, unlike some other dry bags on the market
  3. This bag features a practical loop, which is very handy for connecting a strap to.  The loop is not necessarily to be trusted if the bag is very heavy.
  4. These dry bags come in a variety of sizes

Drawbacks:

  1. This bag is not squirrel-proof

Tips:

  1. When hanging this bag from a tree while backpacking in bear country, hang it at least 10 feet out from the tree trunk and 5 feet down from the branch (link to bear article)
  2. When hanging this bag from a tree as mentioned above, use a thin, slippery rope as opposed to a rough or thick rope: red squirrels can easily climb down thick and/or slippery rope
It’s worth it to fork over the extra cash when purchasing a dry sack, as there are several products on the market that could only be described as “wet sacks.” These devious totes prey on the unsuspecting consumer by masquerading under the misnomer “dry sack.”  Buyers beware.
