Height: 8-24 inches

Flowers: groups of 2-10, ¼ - ½ inches across, pink and white, bell-shaped

Leaf: simple leaf type, opposite attachment, toothless, oval, 2-4 inches long

Fruit: long, thin pods, 3-8 inches long

Habitat: dry, sunny areas

Edible?: No.  The milky sap produced by this toxic plant affects the heart, respiratory, and urinary systems.

Uses: Fibers from the dried stems can be used as strong thread.
